YSTRADOWEN WI members gathered at the village hall to listen to a remarkable woman talk to the group.
Angela Gorman is one of a team of volunteer midwives who travel to Sierra Leone and Liberia to help women and their babies in a deprived part of Africa.
Their work was interrupted by the ebola outbreak, but they have recently been back to continue their necessary work.
Her illustrated talk was both moving and gave an insight into the very different lives of women on another continent. She told us about the joy and relief when huge consignments of baby clothes and donated medicines arrive and the difference they make to everyday life.
We concluded a memorable evening with the business of the day and would like to reiterate we welcome visitors and new members.
