Cor Meibion Maesteg at Cylch will present a St David’s Day concert at Bethel Community centre on Wednesday, March 1, at 7pm, with admission by programme (£5).
Sharing the stage will be Cor Merched Cwn Llynfi (Llynfi Valley Ladies’ Choir) and Col Canto, a group of singers who have previously sung with the South Wales Opera Company. Founded by Patricia O’Neil and Patrick Wheatley, they include Cor Meibion baritone David Mayberry.
Col Canto sing a variety of music including popular songs, from musicals, opera, operetta and Welsh pieces, and were formed in 1994.
The compère for the evening will be Huw Thomas (BBC) son of well-known local doctor, Noel Thomas.
During the concert, there will be audience participation for two pieces: ‘Bendigedig Fyddo’r Iesu’ and ‘Tywys Fi’.
This is the first time Cor Meibion have organised a St David’s Day concert and hope to make it an annual event to really celebrate Wales’ patron saint.
The programme for the evening has been sponsored by Maesteg Motor House.
