There were no soggy bottoms for the 1st Colwinston Brownies when they took part in the first round of the ‘Great British Brownie Bake Off’.
The girls aged between 7 and 10 were asked to bake a sweet or savoury muffin, to be judged for texture, appearance, presentation and, of course, taste.
Colwinston WI’s own ‘Mary Berrys’ Dolores Howell and Chris Duxbury had the unenviable job of choosing a winner to go through to the next stage.
In fact, the judges found their task so difficult they had to go back for a second bite of each muffin.
Eventually after much cogitation and deliberation, the judges decided the winning muffin was baked by Emily Cook, who will represent Colwinston Brownies in the second round competing against other winners from the district.
