10th anniversary for Cantorion Coety

By GEM Community Correspondent in Local People

Cantorion Coety has embarked on its 10th year since the formation of the choir in 2007.

At the AGM held recently at Gilead Chapel, Spencer Road, Coity, the choir president Dr John Elfed Jones congratulated the choir on their success over the last 10 years and referred to the many concerts and charity performances Cantorion Coety have been so successfully involved with over that period.

At the AGM, the music team and all existing officers, were returned for another year of service. The chairman, Gareth Brace, also noted that 2017 will be the 10th year for the choir; he thanked all those associated with Cantorion Coety for their hard work and the unstinting support given to the choir over the past ten years.

Unfortunately, Margaret Davies (secretary) was unable to be present at the AGM.

From those early days, there remain five of the original officers and music team in post since the choir was formed; four of the original singers also remain, who still attend the scheduled practices and functions regularly.

The five original officers were: Dr John Elfed Jones (president), Eira Paskin (musical director), Christine Goldsworthy (deputy accompanist), Gareth Brace (chairman) and Margaret Davies (secretary).

The four founder choristers were: Sue Prosser, Cerey Jones, Joan Brennan and Pat Dalton. ARJ
