A musical evening at St Nicholas WI

By GEM Community Correspondent in Local People

ANN BRYANT welcomed members to a musical evening at St Nicholas WI with talented harpist, Llywelyn Ifan Jones, a multi-award winning musician chosen for the late Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now scheme.

It brings music to the community, while promoting the careers of the musicians taking part, and it has taken Llywelyn to many overseas venues, including Austria and Germany.

He introduced the group to the workings of the harp, followed by a selection of music including Handel and Faure, which was enjoyed by all.

The minutes of the January meeting were read and it was noted that the group now has 28 members, having welcomed a new member recently.

A newsletter from Federation House was read and as a result, five members wished to attend the annual council meeting in Port Talbot.

St Nicholas WI will return to their original start time of 7pm; the next meeting will take place on March 2 at St Nicholas Church Hall.
