Bridgend College wins ‘beacon’ award

Madeleine Moon MP joined representatives of Bridgend College at an award ceremony in London for the presentation of a national award recognising the college’s ‘Be all that you can be initiative.’

Bridgend College were awarded the Association of College’s Beacon Award for Development of Transferable Skills in recognition of their programme that ensures all Bridgend College students are equipped with transferable skills they need to progress into higher education and employment.

Speaking after the ceremony, Mrs Moon said: “This award is highly deserved by the staff and students at Bridgend College. It is recognition of the inclusive approach the college takes to education and the emphasis it places on everyone leaving college ready to pursue higher education and employment.

“Developing skills such as planning and organisation, team working and problem solving is vital for young people to succeed in higher education and to break into the job market. I am delighted that Bridgend College’s work in this area has been rewarded.”
