‘Express Yourself and win a prize’ – says children’s author

By GEM Staff Reporter in Local People

Children’s author Sarah Kilbride is reminding local children that there is still time to ‘express themselves’ this half term, in a top writing competition hosted by National Express.

Author Sarah, who is judging the short story competition – ‘Express Yourself’ – is calling on young people aged seven to 16 to put pen to paper during the half term holidays and enter the competition, as the deadline has been extended until the end of March.

Launched in celebration of its onboard entertainment system VUER (View, Unwind, Enjoy, Relax), the winning stories (with the theme of ‘happy travelling’), will be published in an online storybook, in ‘VUER’, for passengers to enjoy as they travel. Each winner will also receive a £500 cheque.

Sarah Kilbride, known for her Princess Evie’s Ponies books, will be judging entries from Bridgend.

She said: “I’m so excited to be involved with Express Yourself. I work with lots of young people and am always inspired by their imagination and creativity.

“If you know someone who loves stories, tell them to sharpen their pencils and get scribbling – this competition is a fantastic opportunity to get their work read and win a prize!”

Entrants should write a story of up to, but no more than, 1,000 words, and the competition closes on March 31. See www.nationalexpress.com/author for details.
