The Llantrisant Renal Dialysis Unit in Pontyclun will be one of the staging posts on an epic 470-mile walk around Wales in support of people with kidney disease.

Representatives from leading Welsh health charity, Kidney Wales will be walking the entirety of Wales this month to raise vital funds and awareness for the 10,000 patients living with kidney disease across the country.

The ‘Walk Around Wales’, which will take the team of three volunteer walkers 30 days to complete, will walk through Llantrisant on Tuesday, April 18, stopping off at the dialysis unit in Pontyclun along the way.

The centre supports 80 patients living with kidney disease in the region, providing dialysis support close to home for many patients who would otherwise have to travel longer distances for their daily treatments.

The walking team will enjoy afternoon tea with patients at the renal unit, treated to traditional Welsh music courtesy of the Llantrisant Male Voice Choir.
